Coachella Festival

Just as I'm starting to get excited about the 2005 South by Southwest, I come across this Coachella Valley Music Festival. It's like they're cherry picking from my high school tape collection with the likes of: Bauhaus, Gang of Four, New Order, Cocteau Twins, Mercury Rev and Nine Inch Nails. Then they throw in some newer favorites like: Pinback, Arcade Fire, M83, Four Tet, Chemical Brothers, Snow Patrol, Weezer and Prodigy.

Anyone feel like a California road trip at the end of April?

Hey, Junkie XL too. I didn't even know they were still kickin. Man, I wish I could go to Cali. It's cold here today. Lookin at those palms makes me yern for sun.

So what's up with who the mavs keep losing to lately?

I think that a couple of their losses can be attributed to players being hurt. Howard was out for 3 games and they really missed Stackhouse against Chicago where the bench only scored like 3 points. Plus, Finley has been in a big slump.

However, I like the way that they've been playing lately, especially since Jason Terry has moved into the starting point guard spot. Dampier looks like he's finally starting to be comfortable on offense and defense. Marquis Daniels should be back next week and hopefully they will have a healthy spell for a while.

I think this team is going to do well once the playoffs come around. Terry, Daniels, Howard and Harris are good to great perimeter defenders which is something they haven't had for several year. They finally have a dominant big man to clog the lane with Dampier. They have a great bench with a mix of role players and scorers. Nowitzki is having his best season ever.

This was really rebuilding year. The plan was to make a serious push for the championship next year with the same core players. I think that they are ahead of schedule and one of the teams no one wants to meet in the playoffs.

Ya, you are probably right that they see this as a rebuilding year of sorts. But I think they are in 4th in the west, something like that, not bad. If just gets frustrating when they lose to teams they clearly should beat. And there probably aren't too many teams who want to meet them in the playoffs. They'll probably end up playing Sac in the first round, probably not something Sac is looking forward to.
