White is the New Beige

Has anyone else noticed that Apple has moved away from white devices? With the new iPods there isn't a single white option. The new iMac has taken on a brushed aluminum over the previous white. The MacBook is one of the last with the white option. I remember when it came out the black MacBooks were priced $200 more just because they were black. This may have signaled the end of Apple's sparked white molded plastic electronics movement.

I give it 10 years before retro white devices make a comeback.

ps About the new iPods, couldn't they have made a touch iPod with a hard drive? 16 Gb doesn't cut it.

White? Who can think about white when they lowered the price of the iPhone by 200 dollars and you already bought two! I am an asshole.

That would really suck, to have two sweet little iPhones for little over 2 months and then see the price drop $200. You could have bought a spare iPhone with the savings. It is really strange that they'd cut the price by a third so soon after the products release.

You know it really does seem strange--at first. They must have set the initial price to throttle demand to the point where they had enough supply for everyone who really wanted one. People with cash were happy and Apple was certainly happy. Now they recognize they have plenty of supply and can move a lot more product with a lower price (oh and by the way would you like to buy a ringtone or that song your hear while you sip your latte?) It's such a well run operation... no wonder they were able to turn be into a mindless fanboy.

You don't have to tell me about being a fanboy. I was seriously considering taking a little break from work to run down to the Apple store when I heard that the new classic ipods were available now. Ended up going after work. It was kinda slower than I expected at the store. For some reason I was expecting mobs. Anyway, they should have them in the stores this weekend. :)
